Water for all

Despite our local heavyweights figthing with each other, claiming the throne of Malaysia, we seem to forget that we are just lucky motherfuckers who are born in & citizen of Malaysia. Everyday, I listened to different people, different views, different dissappointments, but none of them, sadly even coming from my own friends, has expressed gratitude to what they already have. It’s like they are not bersyukur to what they already have and would like to have some more, stuff. This is not enough. That is not enough. That should be that way. This should be that way. Who’s the real greedy Malaysian now?

Bersyukur. Be thankful.

Hardly anyone, even the younger Malaysian generation nowadays have this attitude embodied in them. In them, it is just not enough. And to some people, when they don’t have it, they make do with whatever they can & make the best out of it. But when we forget where we came from & when we forget our roots, we become blinded by our own sense of goodness or goodwill. We make ourselves believe that we are doing good, whereas we seem to forget that not everybody is like us & not everyone is as fortunate, like us.

Charity Water. Started out by Scott Harrison, he decided to look elsewhere to satisfy his inner human being, being a fortunate New Yorker. He left city life & hopped over to Africa. His mission: to discover that next gig that will satisfy his inner human hunger. And he found one: to provide clean water to hardcore villages in Africa.

The cool thing about his method of fund raising is that he asks for donations using his age as the amount. And since this year he’ll turn 33 years old, the amount is USD$33 dollars. And the best part of it, he calls upon September babies to come & join & support his endeavour. This year’s target is to raise USD$1.5 million dollars. This sounds like a social fun fund raising. Ungh, yet another social thing.

This year will be the 2nd year running for Charity Water & the mission is bigger. Discover what makes you human.
