Blast from the past
Ah… I finally tracked down my very first personal website. My very first experiment into the world of valid HTML & CSS. Those were the days when Zeldman was (and still is) the king. The days when being close to D’ Bow Man was the must thing to do (and he still is the coolest person on the web I’ve ever known & never met. Hah!). He kinda had that Doogie Howser personality in him. And designing pixel by pixel icons wasn’t the hardest thing to do. And then came the birth, in my opinion of history which I might be wrong, the unborn child of social networking.
Yes boys & girls, I’ve been around that long. I have already got it when DOM was the coolest thing to learn. Well, to some extend that is.
The guys I mentioned, they are the source of inspiration, for me to have stayed this long in the Web business. Largely because of their evangelist attitude towards delivering the message across about the current state of the Web. They had it locked down when it comes to personalized web publication (that’s blogging to some of you). More technical history in another time.
But more or less, they’ve inspired me to believe in what I can do to change the perception, the attitude, the implications, the focus, the inner workings and the finer lines of the World Wide Web.
Thanks guys. I couldn’t have done it without you guys starting all of it.
Note to self: THE first website I’ve ever made was the KJROLLERS. AltaVista was da bomb.
