The Quit Chronicles: 3rd is a charmer

Filed under: Family, Friends & Food! — Mr. Buyot @ 10:53 PM

It’s already been 3 months without a cigarette. But, just to be on the record, I DID try to smoke again, just to test myself if I actually missed it. And you know what, I DON’T! It was after the Good Charlotte concert in Bukit Jalil, while walking back to the car, I tried taking a few puffs. And it taste so bad. And I was puffing on my all time favorite, Sampoerna A Menthol. And it didn’t taste good at all. It tasted so “pahit” (what’s “pahit” in Malay? Eek!). Even the cinnamon butt don’t taste good anymore.

Few things I learned so far:

# If you can not smoke during Ramadhan fasting month, then maybe you have a better chance at quitting.
# You will gain weight, but you can still control it. Just don’t feed yourself everytime you have get the urge. Jump around, exercise, tease your mates. Feed yourself with adrenaline (artifical drugs not recommended).
# You will save a lot of money!

Also, I want to add to my earlier post about why we malays suck. When I read my post again, I think I sounded a bit “selfish”. Although my past experiences probably sounded success, I have to say that not all of my ventures made it alive. The biggest cause of death is me, myself and I. But I learned my way through, and I’m going to try again.

I’m really not sure how I got myself into producing videos & building a site for it, but I kinda remember why I’m in entertainment. It’s fun.

Here’s the latest of the latest. I got some wedding videos, but those are kept in discretion. Hehe.

Why we Malays suck at what we do?

Filed under: Family, Friends & Food! — Mr. Buyot @ 11:57 AM

For being 27 soon, I can say I have lived life almost to the fullest, to the maximum amount of leisure & life education activities. No, I did not get the chance to study abroad. No, I didn’t get to go to a real rock concert. But I did get these memories.

I started up my first business at the age of 11 – 12, selling & trading electronic hobby kits from SS2, reprinted collectible postal stamps, foreign coins from my dad’s travels & if you can still remember, those handmade friendship bands (got that from Umi & this dude from tuition last time) & personalized namecards (I got the contacts from my favourite sundry shop, Samsudin SS5). Right after my mum started up her business, I was already busy with her’s instead of mine.

But I didn’t stop. In my high school days, associations like Rotary Leo & Interact Club provides a path for students to aspire as an enterpreneur. My only aspiration and inspiration; was to grow my mother’s soft furnishing business. And I sure did worked hard. Trade show booths at PWTC, MINES exhibition and our very own showroom boutique at Uda Shopping Complex, next to KL-Klang Bus terminal, KL. And I can assure you this, I regret for not having much time for my teenage life & friends, but I had so much fun learning about my grown up life.

After SPM (which is equivalent to an O Level certification), I left Kuala Lumpur for Langkawi. I left my friends, my family & everything I knew. Although KL was only about 8 hours drive away from Langkawi, it’s time to be away from everything. And I got bored.

I ended up providing laundry pickup services for college students. And that time, my cousin had (and still does) her laundry shop next to Aseania Hotel. She comes & pick up the dirty laundry every morning. Then, I got my first IT contract at the age of 20 and that practically started up the whole Redboot Solutions story. I got into the entertainment industry at the age of 24 (I don’t sing. I just entertain myself) and still surviving in it until today.

4 years in Langkawi taught me one real thing: life is not as bad as you really think it is. It sucks, but it’s worth living in it, if you put the effort into it.

Why we Malays suck at what we do?

Maybe we suck at complimenting & we don’t really appreciate each other.

Maybe we suck at looking at each other as partners, instead of rivals.

Maybe we suck at having reasonable doubts, with reasonable actions.

Maybe we suck at telling ourselves that we don’t need to talk to become the best.

Maybe we suck at telling ourselves that we are not good, and someone else is better.

Maybe we suck at learning our own mistakes & try to move on & make things better.

And trust me, the secret to success is simple. Very, very simple. But what’s the secret, I can’t really explain. It’s like marriage, the secret is learned, not taught.

Homer, where art thou!?!?

Filed under: Family, Friends & Food! — Mr. Buyot @ 11:10 AM

This is headline news!!!

Homer missing!

Homer Simpson, from the infamous family cartoon series The Simpsons, was reported missing by his wife, Marge Simpson. He was suspected to be abducted by 2 clever fellows with japanese slapping slippers, carrying off Homer while he was in deep sleep. Authorities believed that the culprits did not realise the shopping complex CCTV camera caught them, in action.

The kidnappers called the authorities & requested the smallest amount of ransom, one thousand ringgit. Easier money than Fly FM!

The Last Strand of Mengkuang

Filed under: Family, Friends & Food! — Mr. Buyot @ 1:53 PM

It would be pretty obvious if there was something wrong with the pattern on a “tikar”. It definitely would be obvious for any sort of “tikar”. “Tikar” is a Malay word. In English, it can mean a carpet, mat, placemats or anything that can cover the floor, even your wet blankie can be considered as “tikar”.

But you woke up yesterday. Janggut Merah Lipat, the kampung’s resident and official kampung Big Ben, makes his early debut before your day. His first single, “Ayam Berkokok”, was definitely a no.1 hit chart way back in early 1980s. There was pride in this chicken.

At the edge of your dusun, Pak Chot was hurryingly, walking back & forth, for reasons unknown. He looked ok, even Janggut Merah acknowledged his odd behaviour. Merah, as usual, stood guard while obversing Pak Chot, glittering with a smile, everytime he walks back towards his dusun.

Four Eyed Monsters

Filed under: Family, Friends & Food! — Mr. Buyot @ 1:06 PM

Being four eyed is bad enough, but being a featured film on YouTube, is definitely fabulous! Introducing Arin & Susan, two in debt(ed) indy artist & filmmaker. They hit if off online, and they hit if off on the silverscreen. One thing though, the moment I watched this film, I personally can relate myself to the film. And I must say, we geeks have a scary way of thinking.

Have a go & yea, pause the video & wait for another 30 – 40 minutes (depending on your net connection, that is if you are NOT using TMNET Streamyx!) for the film to fully download.

Support them & buy the dvd at www.foureyedmonsters.com/store.

Makcik Jeanne

Damn, this year is a nuptial year. And Pak Lah is getting his knot (re)tied! Rumours were around for so long, some said it already happened a while back.

But, come on guys. This is Malaysia. Anything can happen. And I really mean, anything.

Plus, she’s not bad for a 54 year old.
